Blogging about the Weird and the Wonderful

by Stuart G Martin

Did you know that there’s something called the Incy Wincy Spider Liberator? Well, they’re ladders that help spiders escape drowning. You set it up in your bath tub before you turn the tap on, and if there happens to be a spider in danger, it can get to the ladder and climb out.

The Santa Claus detector is excellent. It is an alarm that you can hang in the most unsuspecting places. As soon as Santa Claus enters your living area, this alarm will set off with all the gung-ho of a merry-go-round.

Are you among the ones who love inventing things or playing with gadgets? If yes, then how about understanding the machine that would take care of your cat’s feeding problem. It is simple: combine the cat feeder with a machine that would automatically catch birds.

All of these weird and wonderful things can be found in a handful of blogs aimed at sharing the wealth of this strange knowledge. How and where people find out all of this and the fact that they actually invent such things is a marvel.

Wouldn’t you consider it your duty to pass on information about things such as the spider liberator and the Santa detector (which incidentally comes with an extra facility to attach a shot gun!).

Naturally, you are at liberty to agree or disagree that these facts and inventions are necessary. Some of them really make sense - like the air-conditioned shoes that can help you get rid of smelly feet, as powered by the compression in the heels when you walk. Whether it’s feasible or not, you have to appreciate the thought.

We all know that the internet is like an inexhaustible well of information. Quite a bit of this information is unnecessary, hard to believe, irrelevant and absolutely amusing. Most of this sort of information is put up by people who don’t believe in the conventional in their blogs.

Reading some of these blogs about the weird and wonderful can keep you entertained for a long time and if you wish, you can add your two cents to them too. All you have to do is dig up something strange and let everyone know about it.
